Arrival in Vienna

By plane
The quickest and easiest way to get to Vienna is by plane. Vienna’s International Airport Schwechat is about 20 km from the city center. Bus and train connections are excellent, with a shuttle service running every 20 minutes between the airport and the City Air Terminal near the Stadtpark (Underground U3 and U4: Landstrasse/Wien-Mitte), adjoining the First District.

By rail
When travelling by train you will either arrive at the Westbahnhof or the Südbahnhof, depending on the direction that you are coming from. You will find schedules and further information about train travel at the Austrian Railways website.

By road
Please be aware that all Austrian motorways are toll roads. Toll stickers are available at the borders.
If you drive to Vienna, you must pay attention to the short-term parking zones. From Monday to Friday, you need to pay to park in districts 1 to 9 and 20, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Parking vouchers in Vienna are sold at tobacconists and banks, and must be clearly displayed against the windscreen of the car. If you want to plan your route precisely to Vienna, you can get a precise route description at Mapquest.
